Alison Soscia, DVM
Dr. Soscia has been our Chief of Staff here at New Paltz Animal Hospital since 2001. She grew up in Campbell Hall, New York, and currently resides locally.
After receiving her undergraduate degree from SUNY Plattsburgh, she obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. Dr. Soscia performed a large animal medicine and surgical internship at Washington State University and practiced for several years prior to joining us here at New Paltz Animal Hospital. She is an experienced and dedicated veterinarian.
Outside of work, you can find Dr. Soscia enjoying the outdoors with her Golden Retriever Khloe and Labrador Retriever Ben, horseback riding, water skiing, or paddle boarding.
She truly believes in delivering the best possible care for her clients and their pets.
Beatrice Ehrsam, DVM
As many of our faithful clients know, Dr. Beatrice Ehrsam ("Dr. Bea") has been part of the New Paltz Animal Hospital team since 1993. She grew up in Hurley, New York, and currently resides in the New Paltz area. Dr. Bea attended Cornell University for both her undergraduate and veterinary studies. After graduating from veterinary school in 1990, she worked for many years with Dr. Allen Schoen, an internationally renowned veterinary acupuncturist. Thanks to her hard work and dedication, New Paltz Animal Hospital is able to offer its patients holistic services of the highest quality.
Dr. Bea's veterinary medical specialties include acupuncture, veterinary orthopedic manipulation, Chinese and Western herbs, nutraceuticals and nutritional supplements, as well as glandular therapy. She is able to provide preventative health care as well as alternative and complementary options for many chronic illnesses, including cancer. She is committed to enhancing the optimum health and loving relationships between people, animals, and the earth.
Outside of work she enjoys traveling, dancing, hiking, biking, cross country skiing, and practicing QiGong, yoga and meditation. Dr. Bea lives in a geothermal and solar green house with a beautiful Abyssinian cat.
Suzanne Ursitti, DVM
Dr. Ursitti has been part of the New Paltz Animal Hospital team since October 2008. Growing up in New York City, she now happily resides in New Paltz. She undertook her veterinary studies at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, earning her DVM in 2008. Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. Ursitti has been in the veterinary field since 1995 as a licensed veterinary technician. She worked with the Wildlife Conservation Society at the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, and Brooklyn Aquarium. There she worked with various species including whales, walruses, and sea lions, as well as other diverse zoo animal inhabitants.
Dr. Ursitti moved from the big city to a small town to develop lifelong relationships with her clients and patients. Her medical interests include exotic pet and avian medicine. Outside of work she enjoys kickboxing, yoga, hiking, mountain climbing, crocheting and reading. She also happily spends her time with her many loveable pets: a Bernese Mountain dog named Belle, a Shih Tzu named Rocky, two African Grey parrots named Sundance & Ginger, and a Solomon Island Eclectus parrot!
Kiara Bernat, DVM
Dr. Kiara Bernat recently moved to New Paltz from Long Island with her husband, who is also a Veterinarian. She grew up in Upton, Massachusetts and received an undergraduate degree from Lesley University in 2008. Later, Dr. Bernat earned a DVM degree from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in 2014.
Before joining New Paltz Animal Hospital, Dr. Bernat practiced at the Ocean State Equine Associates in Rhode Island. Her medical interests include surgery and infectious diseases. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, horseback riding, gardening and cooking. She has a German shorthaired pointer and a Leonberger mix at home.
